Hello again everybody!!! I'd like to start of by wishing you all the very best for Christmas and the NewYear!
Were are now coming up to the half way point in the season and we sit very nicely in the top half of the table, at the moment we sit a very good 4th in the league. I am immensely proud of the lads performance of the last couple of weeks and with a little bit more improvement we can push forward and take our game to the next level. We have a couple of new faces joining the squad over the next couple of weeks, which will create even more competition for places. We have Mark Poynton, who is joining us from Halkyn Utd, his experience and determination to win will be a good influence to have and will hopefully bring this out even more in the lads. We also have an up and coming striker from Shotton joining us called Luke who is joining us with some glowing references.
I'd again like to thank Jim Williams and the Principality for there sponsorships. The new kits have turned up look really good. I would also like to thank Cllr Mel Higham for sponsoring our match ball for the home games, everybody's contributions are helping the club out a lot. We are still looking at furthering the club off the pitch and if anybody is interested in supporting the club, please contact Gez (Geriant).
We have a lot of tough games ahead of us now and we will need a renewed effort from the lads and if we can keep our present form up it will help us to go forward. The results are good and the performances are getting better. We have a few lads coming back from injury and I hope to have a full strength squad to pick from come the new year.
Keeping working hard lads!!!
Now we are nearing the halfway stage of the season, I have got to say that I am more than pleased with our present league position of fourth. In our last two away games we managed to come away with maximum points and with the added bonus of not conceding any goals. That is basically down to a solid defensive performance and a battling midfield with clinical finishing by our top scorer Tim Hughes, who has now scored 14 league and cup goals (which includes two hat-ricks). A mention must also go to Chris Barnard who has stepped in to do a good job as captain in the absence of Ad Walker.
Unfortunately, our home game against Aston Park Rangers Reserves last Saturday became foul of the weather, which made it a complete washout as far as our division was concerned. This Saturday we travel to Betws yn Rhos, who sit just above us in the league and will prove to be a tough encounter, since we narrowly lost 2-1 in a pretty even game on home soil earlier in the season.
Our new away kit (yellow & blue) has proved to be a very popular strip with the lads and would like to thank Watty’s dad for securing sponsorship with ‘Principality’ to whom the club is most grateful. I would like to welcome Mark Poynton (brother of our keeper Andy) to the club, following his transfer from Halkyn Utd. I am sure Mark will prove to be a major asset to Andy (Wattys) squad.
There is still a lot of hard work ahead of us and I am sure Watty will continue with the good work he’s already undertaken in managing, coaching and motivating the lads. The team is growing in confidence and self belief is becoming more apparent in their displays.
On a less positive note it is rather disappointing to see that our disciplinary record is still an issue and hope this will improve as we enter the second half of the season.
Once again, many thanks to Sue Barnard for her commitment in keeping the clubs finance in order and to Yozza for doing such an excellent job in keeping the clubs website updated week after week.
On that note I would like to wish everyone associated with CPD Sychdyn a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
‘C’MON THE LADS
Gez Chairman CPD Sychdyn
Well the festive period is here again and Sychdyn are not in a bad position at all. We have achieved some good results over the past few weeks and set us in a steady 5th position in the league – all though we do have two really testing games in the run up to the Christmas break.
There have been a few injuries and sickness amongst the squad players which has allowed other squad members to come through and take their place. In fact they are keeping out some of the regular starters from the start of the season, due to their winning streak, which is really good to see. It just shows what a great squad we have. Andy has also managed to poach a couple of new lads from other clubs which again will add depth even more to the squad.
Hopefully we can continue with these steady performances and get a bit of consistency within our game leading in to the second half of the season. All I can say lads is keep up the commitment, keep up the training sessions (unlike me!!) and for those lads who are still waiting for their chance for a starting position – just stick with it. I know it tough for Andy to pick the side on a Saturday afternoon, but he must be doing something right to have brought the club this far.
A great thanks to all our sponsors again and wish you all a Merry Christmas.
