Sychdyn FC History

Sychdyn football club began life after the Second World War in 1946 and was set up by a group of local lads from the village. At the time the club was known as Sychdyn Villa and proved to be a successful outfit winning numerous trophies.

During the 60's and 70's the club were known as Sychdyn United and played their home matches on Banks Park in the village, before the club moved recently to their current home on Wats Dyke Way, under the eye of the Sychdyn Sports Association. Later the side just became known as Sychdyn and in the 80's and early 90's were managed by Malcom Parry and they won the North Wales Coast Junior Cup in the season 1985 - 86.

From 1993 until last season 2006 Geraint Jones managed the club and took them right the way through the junior league and then onto the Clwyd senior league. His service to the club has been outstanding and well appreciated by all who have played for him and also against his teams. Geraint still remains at the club as the team secretary and has won the league secretary of the year for the past 2 years running 2005 - 06 and 2006 - 07 seasons respectfully.

At the start of the 2006 - 07 season Andy Watton took over from Gez as the clubs new player manager and in his first season in charge finished a respectable 3rd place and the club gained promotion to Clwyd league 1. The current team has a good mixture of youth and experience and like to play a good, attractive style of football.
